The City of Northampton zoning ordinance allows pets and farm animals under
350-5.3 "Accessory Uses." (https://ecode360.com/11957346) The enforcement
authority is the building dept. When people call to complain about neighbor
hens coming into their property, we tell people first to try to talk with
the offending neighbor and show them the ordinance before making a written
complaint to the BD. Subsection A of the ordinance covers farm animals.
Subsection B covers pets. Up to six hens, but not roosters, are classified
as pets with some specific requirements about coops.
