The massplanners listserv will be moving to the groups.io platform on September 1, 2025. All current subscribers will be invited to join. To join you must reply to the invitation within 14 days. For more information see massplanners group guidelines.

Old massplaners listserv ending Sept. 15, 2025

After September 1, 2025 requests for subscription will be subscribed to https://groups.io/g/massplanners. Subscriber posts will post until September 15th. Non-subscriber posts will not be approved and will not post. Non-subscribers can send post to massplanners@groups.io for post review.

On September 15th the old listserv will be closed to all posts. Anyone wishing to post to massplanners must subscribe at massplanners+subscribe@groups.io.

Massplanners group is for people associated with planning in Massachusetts. The listserv was begun by Chris Skelly a number of years ago. Since then it has become a major a forum for discussion of planning issues in the State. CPTC began hosting and moderating massplanners in 2021. In 2025 the listserv was moved to groups.io with APA-MA underwritng the cost.

Subscribers include professional planners from municipalities, regional planning agencies, state agencies, federal agencies and consulting planners.  There are also student planners and citizen planners serving on planning boards and zoning boards of appeals.  Other subscribers to massplanners include attorneys, engineers, conservationists, public health advocates and developers.  Anyone currently working in planning or with an interest in Massachusetts planning is welcome to join massplanners.
