Certificates & Credits
CPTC workshops may offer credit for CPTC Certificates, MIIA municipal insurance and AICP certification maintenance. Credit available is noted on the individual workshop.
CPTC Certificates
CPTC offers Level I and Level II certificates to participants who have completed the following workshops. Workshops are offered around the state in the fall and at the Spring Conference in Worcester.
LEVEL I CERTIFICATE, Must complete:
- The Roles and Responsibilities of Planning and Boards of Appeals
And two of the following:
- Introduction to the Subdivision Control Law & ANR
- Introduction to the Zoning Act
- Writing Reasonable and Defensible Decisions
LEVEL II CERTIFICATE, Level I certificate and complete 3 of the following:
- Planning with Community Support (for planning boards only)
- Vested Rights and Non-conforming Structures, Lots and Uses
- Zoning Exemptions
- Special Permits & Variances
MIIA Credits
CPTC workshops designated “MIIA credit” entitle your city or town to credit under the MIIA Rewards Program towards public officials liability insurance. Attend non-MIIA Professional Liability training on training topics listed below. A member can receive non-MIIA training credit (.5%-1%) for each unique training topic.

AICP Credit
AICP members can earn 1.5 Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for each activity. More information about AICP’s CM program can be found at http://www.planning.org/cm. Eligible CPTC workshops will be labeled AICP CM I 1.5. Those labeled AICP pending CM I 1.5 are workshops awaiting approval of AICP credit.
