Thanks, Corrin et al.  The internship rates for LARP graduate students at UMass Amherst are comparable to what Christine has mentioned for Tufts (c. $20./hour, plus or minus depending on student qualifications desired).  At a threshold of total internship compensation, it could be classified as an externship that potentially qualifies for a UMass tuition waiver.  For employers in the commutershed of Western Massachusetts, we may be a good source of suitable candidates throughout the entire year (not just summer).  All best wishes and kind regards, Mark

Hi Corrin,

At Tufts' graduate department of Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy, we recommend $20/hour. The average pay rate of our internships last year was $18, and the mode was $20.

I am considering writing a line item in a grant proposal to hire an intern to assist with an environmental planning project. For those of you who work with interns, I am curious what your hourly wage is and if you find it to be competitive. At this point I am primarily considering graduate-level interns.
