Hello All,
The Dudley Master Plan dates from 2000 and much of the census data that went into that was from 1990. Our town fathers (read BOS) are very cost conscious. Is it possible to bring in a good quality Master Plan for a reasonable cost? What is a reasonable cost? How have other Towns been able to sell the idea to Town Government and the public?Looking forward to your responses.
Be Well, Richard Clark, Dudley Planning Board

Dear MassPlanners,

Here in Pembroke we are putting together a Master Plan Committee, for the purpose (obviously) of starting a master planning process and creating a new master plan document. Our last master plan was done in 2004 so it's certainly time for a new one. Pembroke is on the South Shore about 30 miles from Boston with a population of roughly 18,000.

I trust the wise minds of MassPlanners can offer me helpful advice about this. I am wondering about a wide variety of issues, from the specific to the broad, such as the number of members the committee should have, how the committee should function procedurally, how long the master planning timeline should be, how to evaluate consultants, how to encourage public participation, etc. In short, any suggestions or comments you have would be appreciated!

Thank you.

Best,

Matthew Heins
