[Massplanners] STR Question

Good Friday Morning Planners!
Quick STR question. We are proposing a zoning based STR regulation at this month's Annual Town Meeting. In conversation on this topic, our Building Dept. has informed us that the coming 10th edition of the state building code will require STRs to install sprinkler systems. First time I had heard of this. Knowing we are all operating with a statewide building code I'm curious to hear how our building colleagues are handling this in other communities. Feels like this could be a major issue particularly for our more rural tourism dependent communities.
