Position Title:                                    Department Assistant - Planning
Department:                                      Planning Department
Full Time/hours:                               19 hours / week (not eligible for benefits)
Starting Salary Range:                      $28.68 to $37.42 per hour, depending upon qualifications
Description of Position:
The Planning Department seeks qualified candidates for a part-time Department Assistant.  This role provides essential support to the Town Planner in the review of land division and development proposals in compliance with federal, state and local law.  The Department Assistant assists in the operation of the office including communicating with the general public on all Planning Department issues, as well has managing all day-to-day functions of the officer, including, file management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, correspondence and assisting residents, contractors and other departments by providing copies or access to Planning files, forms and applications as needed.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
Education:  High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in a related field or endeavor preferred.
Experience:  Over two (2) years of administrative experience; experience in working with the public in a municipal setting preferred.  Experience with local land use planning or zoning preferred.
Substitutions:  Additional years of relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
