Likewise, I’m taking some time to first review available resource materials and considering public outreach materials that may be helpful. A few I’ve seen:

AARP https://www.aarp.org/livable-communities/housing/info-2021/adu-model-state-act-and-local-ordinance.html
Orange Splot https://www.orangesplot.net/
And the AARP and Orange Splot collaboration: https://www.aarp.org/livable-communities/housing/info-2019/accessory-dwelling-units-guide-download.html

What other resources have you found and would recommend?
Maren

Warning – THIS EMAIL WAS SENT BY AN EXTERNAL SENDER

I wouldn’t do anything until you engage with your local Counsel and await guidance from the Commonwealth. I’m sure that the Mass. Municipal Lawyers Association is keeping an eye on this will be working on guidance for municipalities like mine who have an ADU By-law that requires a Special Permit, or for municipalities who do not have any ADU By-law at all.

I will play the waiting game for guidance and deadlines. No need for me to start composing a zoning ordinance only to have it be non-compliant.

With the Governor set to sign this bill today, when does the new ADU zoning amendments become effective?

What are next steps for towns? Are you expediting deletion of existing bylaws and adoption of new ones?

Are you waiting for guidance and / or regulations from the state?

What is the likelihood of the state issuing and guidance / regulations and when?

Thanks
