[Massplanners] COVID Extensions for Local Permits

Hi Fiona,

Check with your municipal counsel, as they should be familiar with the exact calculations for the COVID tolling provisions. There was also an excel spreadsheet circulated on the email at some point, but I can't seem to find it.

My understanding (others please chime in if I'm off base) of how this number is calculated:


  1.  The number of days the permit/approval was in effect prior to the enactment of Chapter 253, Section 17 (this should include any subsequent extensions of the original approval/issuance).



  1.  Said approval/permit is then tolled for the number of days that the above emergency provisions were in effect in place, which was until 6/15/2021.



  1.  Then add the number of days  in #2 with the number of days in #1 and that would yield the new expiration date.

Original Expiration Date of a permit
Date when COVID Emergency Order began
# days permit is tolled
End of COVID Emergency Order
New date of Permit expiration
3/10/2020
6/15/2021

We have Applicants that need to renew and believe they are protected. It's not clear to me; it's also unclear how extensions are calculated.

Any help would be appreciated!
