Hi all,

I am excited to share with you our latest initiative aimed at reinforcing racial equity within our municipal governance framework: the Racial Equity Advancement and Collaborative Hub (REACH) program (see newsletter below).
Led by MAPC and designed by the nationally recognized Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE), REACH offers training, peer learning, and tools for municipal teams. The requirements for the program are as follows:

  *   Municipalities should show a commitment to racial equity, receive leadership backing in the program, and ensure their municipal team representatives actively participate in all in person sessions at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, while collaborating with peer municipalities.
  *   Municipalities are asked to provide a $5,000 participation fee (either in whole or split by $2,500 between two fiscal years) and provide a signed affirmation ensuring active participation and provision of necessary resources to support their REACH goals.
  *   Municipalities must be located within the Commonwealth.

Racial Equity Advancement & Collaborative Hub (REACH)

The murder of George Floyd in 2020 and the summer of unrest put racial inequity at the forefront of American discourse. But in the three years since those events, racial inequity still exists, and yet, as a society, we are paying less and less attention to it. However, the urgency to address racial inequity remains undiminished. It is in this reality that MAPC introduces the Racial Equity Advancement & Collaborative Hub (REACH). REACH is a training and peer learning initiative that supports municipal government efforts to create inclusive and equitable municipal environments and actions.

MAPC will lead the administration and oversight of the program. Participants will have access to training, peer learning, and tools that will better prepare municipal teams to address racial disparities within their communities effectively and respectfully.
