[Massplanners] Paving checklist/form

Due respect, I’d be very concerned about a developer’s qualifications who asked why, never mind pushing back.

In fairness, maybe there is a misunderstanding as to the question. It primarily applies to what will be public infrastructure, not parking lots for commercial buildings or large apartment complexes, etc, which may be your focus. (Private driveways and maybe a few other situations may also may benefit from the same oversight as a consumer protection concept.)

Things like tonnage slips can also be beneficial to the developer to justify/backup bond reduction requests.

Anticipate huge pushback from the builders and developers in your community. Who in your town is qualified to analyze the answers to these questions?

Why do you need to know these things?

Hello fellow MA planners,

For the paving of roads in subdivisions, the planning department and the DPW are looking to create a checklist document for the developer to receive approval prior to starting paving. The checklist document will have things like slips of material and tonnage, equipment, sieve analysis, compaction report, etc. The goal is to make sure paving of subdivisions are of good quality and permission is received before starting. Does anyone have an example form/checklist their municipality uses for paving requests/projects?

Thank you!
