[Massplanners] homestead lots

Good morning all:

Truro is planning for uses on a large town-owned parcel.  In discussing housing, an idea came up of devoting some of the site to small "homestead" lots, making them available for people to build their own residences, deed restricted.  Has anyone done or heard of this ?
