Thank you Tim.
I wanted to clarify that I was wrong in saying Root Shock was a non-planning book. The author, although an MD, is a Professor of Urban Policy and Health, et. al.
And the book is categorized under Urban and Land Use Policy/Planning, African American Public Policy, and City Planning among other relative areas.
Hope I didn’t make the thread longer.

Hey planners, your faithful MassPlanners Listserv moderator here.
Our list has a very low message size limit (100KB) before messages start getting held back in our moderation system. This can get triggered if a thread gets too long. This is a great conversation that I want to see continue, but I’ve deleted previous messages in the thread below to reduce the message size. Please respond to this message if you have more recommendations.

[External Email- Use Caution]
So many great choices already shared. I back the multiple recommendations of the Color of Law – a must read.
Also, Root Shock: How Tearing up Neighborhoods Hurts America and What We Can Do About It by Mindi Thompson Fullilove, MD. A non-planning book that focuses on the trauma created from uprooting neighborhoods.
“Like a sequel to the prescient warnings of urbanist Jane Jacobs, Dr. Mindy Thompson Fullilove reveals the disturbing effects of decades of insensitive urban renewal projects on communities of color…” Click Here for More<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__bookshop.org_p_books_root-2Dshock-2Dhow-2Dtearing-2Dup-2Dcity-2Dneighborhoods-2Dhurts-2Damerica-2Dand-2Dwhat-2Dwe-2Dcan-2Ddo-2Dabout-2Dit-2Dmindy-2Dthompson-2Dfullilove_12401316-3Fean-3D9781613320198&d=DwMGaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=EaWBFhlgouCM-eqEWgXO8um7Dw-706JXLWQdmGem7AY&m=Yr_q0X2iK0m2k2QE45JOfM2LyjFkX8O2sGX3NhI5Bi98-LiXFZPLXsnL0yZSD9AS&s=h_MY1yPt1YyODz_i4TOScS8XQAfWUxu4JwWAlh-lguE&e=>
