The Town of Provincetown (permanent population: approximately 3,500 seasonal; more than
60,000), a complex, dynamic, and diverse community is seeking qualified applicants for the
position of Director of Community Development. The successful candidate will have excellent
leadership qualities, oral and written communication skills, understanding of or ability in
planning and municipal regulatory operations. A Master's Degree in city and regional planning,
architecture, building construction or related field; five years in municipal planning, architecture,
building industry, community development and three years supervisory experience preferred.
The candidate should be organized, disciplined, a collaborative leader, experienced working with
a centralized fully integrated Community Development Department, a reliable communicator
with a strong commitment and motivation to work collaboratively with staff, local boards, town
department heads, employees, and citizens (permanent, seasonal, and commercial). The Director
of Community Development plays a crucial role in the Town's future physical, environmental
and infrastructure planning, its management, organization, and operations. The Director of
Community Development must be able to effectively supervise an able and dedicated staff and
have a proven track record in developing strong and productive working relationships with
internal and external customers. The Community Development Director works under the
direction of the Town Manager and is a critical and important member of his leadership team.

The Town has established a salary of up to $140,000. Final salary negotiable commensurate
with qualifications. An attractive benefits package, including health and retirement plans, free
