Technical Assistance to Strengthen Downtowns
The MA Downtown Initiative Program is now available through the Community One Stop for Growth<https://www.mass.gov/guides/community-one-stop-for-growth> portal. Applications must be submitted for consideration between May 2- June 3, 2022.

What is the MA Downtown Initiative (MDI) Technical Assistance Program?
The MDI Technical Assistance Program provides $25,000 worth of consultant services in the following categories:

  *   District Management- Business Improvement District (BID) or Volunteer-based Organization
  *   Design
  *   Economics of Downtown
  *   Economic Equity
  *   Housing
  *   Downtown Mobility
  *   Small Business Support/E-commerce
  *   Wayfinding/Branding

This is a great program for many of the final projects that were presented in the final Local Rapid Recovery Plans.

Who is eligible?
All 352 MA communities are eligible. The Community One Stop application must be submitted by the municipality; however, implementation of the specific activity can be supported by an entity outside the municipality (ie a Business Improvement District, Chamber of Commerce). There can only be one MDI TA project request per community.
