Hello Everyone,

Happy Friday!

We are in the process of the updating our Zoning here in Bridgewater regarding Senior Housing, and we are looking to see how other communities currently define a “communal dining facility”, as we may need to include a definition for it based on the definition of a “Independent Living Facility” in our Zoning

Independent Living Facility: A facility providing apartments for rent with a communal dining facility, with optional services on the site for the convenience of residents, including but not limited to transportation, barber/beauty services, sundries for personal consumption, laundry services and other amenities, provided such uses serve primarily the residents and staff of the facility.

Our definition for an independent living facility mentions a communal dining facility, however, members of the public and Board have inquired if that means a “3 meals a day cafeteria” or more so a “kitchen area that any resident could use” like many larger apartment projects around.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Shane
