[Massplanners] Project-based internship position available in Longmeadow

The Town of Longmeadow’s Planning & Community Development Department seeks
an intern to assist staff on a project basis through late summer (August) –
early fall (September or October) 2022, for a total of 120 hours. The
prospective intern will contribute to and gain experience from real,
municipal-level planning projects:


   - Assist with laying the ground-work for the upcoming update to
   Longmeadow’s climate resilient, equitable Long Range Plan: Envisioning an
   Inclusive & Resilient Longmeadow (working title) by:
   - Aiding the Planning Director in the review of the Town’s existing land
   use and spatial policy oriented plans, such as the Open Space and
   Recreation Plan, Housing Needs Assessment and Production Plan, Hazard
   Mitigation Plan, Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Summary of Findings
   and updates, Capital Improvement Plan, any relevant regional plan, etc., to
   identify areas of alignment and conflict, with the ultimate goal of
   clarifying municipal priorities for community investment ahead of the Long
   Range Plan update
   - Participating (with option to take leading role) in several working
   group meetings with policy teams, to include department heads and town
   officials as relevant

The intern must have a proficient and demonstrated ability with QGIS, as
the Town is not able to provide an ESRI license to complete the spatial
analysis task. The selected intern will report to the Planning Director and
will collaborate with various staff across municipal departments.

Recent graduates and individuals planning to return to an academic program
of study during Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semesters are encouraged to apply.
Planning Staff and any selected individual(s) will develop an appropriate
work schedule to accommodate class schedules as needed.
