The City of Melrose is seeking an Assistant Planner to join the Office of Planning and Community Development

Title:               Assistant Planner
Status:           Full-time, 35 hours per week, comprehensive benefits
Salary:           Starting Salary $58,094

Summary:     The Assistant Planner assists in the operations of the Office of Planning and Community Development under the direction of the Director of Planning and Community Development and provides a range of development and land-use planning activities, including duties related to administering and staffing land use boards and commissions, performing plan review, project conformance review, plan creation and implementation, and other related projects. Essential duties include providing support to the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning Board and the Historic District Commission, including reviewing applications, preparing staff reports, attending meetings, drafting decisions and coordinating notifications; assisting with the development of zoning amendments, assisting with the preparation of planning studies and grant applications; and responding to inquiries from property owners, developers and the public.
