I wanted to reach out to the list to spread the word that the City of Medford is looking to fill current and upcoming vacancies on the City's Community Development Board, which serves as the City's Planning Board. It's an exciting time to get involved and help
shape the City's future while we are in the midst of a comprehensive rewrite of the Zoning Ordinance. I'm also seeking ideas from other cities/towns who have found successful ways in attracting interest from community members with a broad range of backgrounds and viewpoints in serving on these important unelected land use boards. Maintaining a full Board here
has been tricky as ours is a little different from Planning Boards in other municipalities in that it was set up by state legislative action (Acts of 1974) which sets strict term limits and mandates that one member be appointed by the Governor (which has been
vacant as the process is unclear to both current city and state officials who were not involved in previous appointments). </div>
