    <p>All,</p>

    <p>There was a citizen-petitioned article at Town Meeting in Ipswich

      in May to remove the appointment of Planning Board members from

      the responsibility of the Town Manager, and instead have them

      appointed by the Select Board. Further, the article indicated that

      the terms of all appointees of the Town Manager would expire no

      later than 7/31/25 and their replacements would be appointed by

      the Select Board. Town Meeting referred the article to the

      Government Study Committee which is just now beginning research on

      this article.</p>

    <p>I believe there have been queries on this listserve regarding

      appointed vs. elected. If you have in your files the results of

      the earlier queries on the manner of selecting Planning Board

      members, please send them to me, whether they are about elected

      vs. appointed, or the source of appointments. It would be great to

      hear from a few of you individually regarding what form your

      community uses and what you think is effective, or not.</p>
