<div dir="ltr">The Town of East Longmeadow is seeking qualified applicants for the Director of Planning position. The town seeks to continue its growth with an individual that has interest and experience in land use, planning and community development. This position serves as the town’s principal planner and department head, responsible for administering land use, zoning, implementation of the town’s master plan as well as related management, administrative, and research functions. The Director of Planning also acts as a technical advisor to the town’s Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Conservation Commission.<br><br>The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of municipal planning and permit procedures; a working knowledge of federal, state, and local land use regulations; and an ability to achieve the goals and objectives of a planning department; excellent written, verbal, and collaboration skills; and the ability to lead staff effectively.<br><br>Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to planning, land use, or landscape architecture and a minimum of three years’ professional planning experience, comparable public administration and management experience within a municipality, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform essential functions of the job.
