town of Upton, Massachusetts, seeks an innovative, visionary Land Use
and Inspectional Services Director to serve the community in performing
professional, technical, and administrative duties in developing plans
and programs relating to land use, zoning, growth, and development in
accordance with community and economic goals as envisioned by the Board
of Selectmen and Planning Board.<br>The ideal candidate will possess
excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills and
thoroughly understand land use principles involving historic
preservation and environmental concerns. In addition to exercising
independent judgment, the candidate must be able to collaborate with a
variety of stakeholders in a team-oriented environment. Additionally,
the candidate will have experience securing and administering grants for
various initiatives, understanding marketing principles, and overall
Master Plan adherence responsibility. The Director is accountable for
the direction and success of programs accomplished through others and
oversees the personnel function of the department.<br>Qualified
applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in planning or public policy,
five to ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal
planning or land use, or any equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience. An American Institute of Certified Planners
credential and master’s degree is preferred.<br>Starting salary range is
$83.5K to $94K, commensurate with years of experience and education. A
