The Town of North Attleboro has significant spaces zoned for retail on the Route 1 corridor along with a mall. We are interested in an innovative mixed-use bylaw that acts as an overlay in these areas. I think the intent here would be to encourage creative
and flexible uses while helping to retain occupancy. Also, the same for the mall. We also have broad ideas for some spaces in the mall for perhaps "place making" living with restaurants, arts, or housing that would be encouraged with a mixed-use bylaw. Burlington,
MA has a creative example where applicants can propose a planned development district with a rezone and proposed change of uses. Would anyone have any examples
of mixed-use bylaws over retail areas and malls? Or ideas?
