Hi Anne,

You should be able to regulate how many are required through your local zoning bylaw and have the Planning Board be the authority to allow more than one. Nantucket has is outlined that “no more than one driveway access shall be allowed on a lot. However, the Planning Board may grant a waiver to allow two or more driveway access..” https://ecode360.com/11472273

Dear Planners,
I'm looking for examples of local bylaws or policies regulating the number of residential curb cuts per parcel. Our DPW did have a sort of policy allowing only 1 curb cut per residential lot but they are now approving plans, most recently with 3 curb cuts - 2 driveways for a new duplex and 1 driveway for a new ADU - on 75' of frontage, and this site plan will be replicated on the adjacent lot as well. I'm very much in favor of the increased density but not super psyched about the lack of site plan creativity, which the Planning Board has no authority to deny.
Thanks,
Anne
