Hopkinton is looking to fill the newly vacant role of Principal Planner:

Salary: $85,488 to $119,683.20 annually, depending on qualifications

40-hour work week

Under the direction of the Land Use, Planning, and Permitting Director, the
Principal Planner is a municipal position within urban planning. The role
performs highly technical, professional, and administrative work for the
Town's Land Use, Planning, and Permitting Department. Work involves
administration and implementation of current and near-term planning
efforts, such as permitting, preparation of planning studies, assessment of
proposals for land use and development, and assistance to boards and
committees in undertaking their respective charges; evaluation of
compliance with Zoning Bylaws, Stormwater Bylaws, Stormwater Regulations,
Subdivision Rules and Regulations, and applicable state and federal laws;
contribution to long-range planning efforts; acquisition and administration
of grants; recommendation of policies, standards or criteria; and other
related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or related field and one (1) to three
(3) years of experience as a municipal or environmental planner; or any
equivalent combination of education and experience.  Master’s Degree
preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

   -

   Knowledge of  Public administration and municipal government operations;
   -

   Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and codes, rules,
   and regulations related to planning;
   -

   Knowledge of contract negotiation, litigation, legal document
   management, and public property disposition.
   -

   Knowledge of financial management, budget preparation, and strategic
   planning;
   -

   Ability to communicate effectively in writing with various audiences,
   including public officials and the general public;
   -

   Proficiency with computers and Google G-Suite in a corporate/office
   environment and other related financial programs to include word
   processing, spreadsheet,  database, presentation, email, internet browser,
   and cloud systems.

Licensing/Certifications: Valid U.S. Driver’s License
