Great question.
Reach out to your Fire Chief for recommendations and conditions to include in a Board decision. Consider also engaging the State Fire Marshall if the local Fire Department doesn’t have expertise and experience in this specific type of use.
When Littleton Planning Board was reviewing a proposal for a hydrogen fuel operation, it was clear that we did not have the local knowledge on best practices. The State Fire Marshall reviewed the application and recommended local training and some new thermal imaging equipment. The applicant provided certified training for local fire staff and the new thermal imaging equipment.

Hello all,

Our town has received an application for installation of two - 30,000 gallon propane storage tanks and the current planning board has not permitted something like this before. We also lost our planner in October of last year, so I am flying solo as a Planning Board chair.

Do any of you have any experience with this type of request and advice for what we should be considering at the hearing January 28th? Or any examples of permits you have passed in your town with conditions that we should be considering or aware of to ensure we consider all the ramifications for our town? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
