Dear Brant, Bill and Eric et al:Prior to the attached, Carver/PreTBott approved an 150MW BESS based upon an interpretation of an earlier version of the Zoning Bylaw. Since then, the Town created a multi-tiered (one more tier than Medway) based largely on the extensive work that Medway had done.

As you might expect following up on the successful adoption of the bylaw I sent the Medway staff: lead by a prudent jurist and planning icon an Edible Arrangement (of fruit) on behalf of the thousands and thousands of dollars Medway had spent researching the topic that benefitted CranberryLand USA. Please note that no muni funds were expended esp sans cranberries for my token of appreciation for non tokeable gifts. Also please note that this was a couple of years ago when my email signature included "You too could follow me on Twitter @TBottPlimoth but it clearly isn’t necessary." Given the decreasing civility in far too many places to count I will likely be officially finally whacking Twitter and inserting a new signature line You too could follow me on BlueSky @tbottplimoth.bsky.social but it clearly isn’t necessary

Subject: [Massplanners] Pointers to MA towns with approved battery storage bylaws
Greetings, planners:
I’m serving on a town study committee which is investigating how we might appropriately regulate siting & operational management of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (ESS), without running afoul of existing zoning exemptions.
We’re looking for model bylaws to consider using as a template. We are aware of ESS zoning bylaws that were approved by Medway and Sunderland and also approved by the AGO. Are there any others?
Feel free to email me directly and I’ll summarize back to the list in a few days.
Cheers,
/Brant
