Hi Planners!
Adrienne and Josie here from the Massachusetts Municipal Association. We were encouraged to post on this thread for some help related to clean energy infrastructure siting and permitting.
The new clean energy law is requiring changes to the permitting process for clean energy projects at both the state and local level. Municipalities will be required to use a consolidated permitting process for projects under their jurisdiction and permits must be approved within one year of receiving a complete application.
DOER is drafting regulations for this new permitting process and MMA is helping. We are hoping to gather input on current practice at the local level, what changes to process may be helpful to communities, what standards should be required for all projects, and any other input!
In addition, various state departments are working on regulations to set parameters for site suitability, recommendations or guidelines for community benefit agreements, fire safety standards, and more. We want to hear your thoughts on these and related topics!
More info on the law is here.<https://www.mma.org/gov-healey-signs-clean-energy-bill/>
We are available via email at jahlberg at mma.org<mailto:jahlberg at mma.org> and anunez at mma.org<mailto:anunez at mma.org> or via cell at 413-522-6522 (Adrienne)
Thanks so much for any help you can provide!!
Adrienne and Josie
