The Town of Marblehead is currently searching for a Director to lead our Town's new Community Development & Planning Department. Marblehead's Community Development & Planning Department was approved by Town Meeting this May, and consists of the Director, Town Planner, Grant Coordinator, and Sustainability Coordinator. Some quick highlights of the job description below.

Summary: Directs the operations and staff activities of the Office of Planning and Community Development, which is responsible for issues related to planning, land use, economic development, conservation, open space, affordable housing, historic preservation, capital planning, and zoning. Develops comprehensive plans and programs for the utilization of land and physical facilities. Manages and updates the Master Plan and other planning documents. Develops and oversees housing policy and planning for the Town. Provides technical assistance on complex development proposals. Prepares long-range plans, drafts zoning ordinances, and coordinates work with the Town Administrator and other Town departments. Advises elected officials and board and commission members.

Education, Training, and Experience: Master’s degree in urban planning or a related field, plus 10+ years of professional planning experience preferably in a municipal setting is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Advertised Compensation: Grade 11: $105,861.82 - $137,620.70
