Summary: In April 2022, the Denver Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency launched an e-bike rebate program, offering $400 to any Denver resident, up to $1,200 for income-qualified residents, and an additional $500 for residents purchasing e-cargo bikes. Within a month, more than 3,000 e-bike rebates were redeemed. The Denver program has since expanded to a Colorado statewide e-bike rebate in August 2023. Hear from Michael Salisbury (City of Denver Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency) on the development and administration of Denver's popular and successful e-bike rebate program and what planners in Iowa can learn to develop similar programs that promote equity, encourage active transportation, and advance sustainability initiatives.
