Hi Bernard,
The Town of Orange recently secured an MVP grant to install solar on the roof of our elementary school (along with BESS for backup). We tied the project into a larger scope including educational opportunities for students and community members.

Subject: [Massplanners] Solar Implementation/Installation Grants
Hi Everyone,
I'm reaching out to see if any municipality in Massachusetts has ever applied for a grant (state or federal) to fund the installation of rooftop solar on a publicly owned building like a library, town hall, fire station etc.? If you have, what was the name of the grant and the granting agency?
I could find a couple of grant opportunities to fund feasibility or scoping studies for solar installation, but I am not finding grants that fund municipalities for the actual construction and installation of solar on public buildings. I've looked through CommBuys and Grants.gov, but any additional recommendations or actual would be greatly appreciated.
Funding the installation of rooftop solar on public buildings seems like such low hanging fruit that I'm a little surprised at the dearth of installation/implementation grants out there. Unless, of course, I'm just looking in the wrong places (totally possible!).
Thanks in advance!
