which make a wide variety of projects and achievements possible.



The town of Avon is seeking a Town Planner to provide professional,
technical, and administrative land use planning, zoning, and regulatory
controls. The Town Planner, under the direction of the Town Administrator,
is responsible for providing oversight of the development review process
and administrative support to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of
Appeals. The position involves significant interaction with department
heads, boards and commissions, and a variety of stakeholders to achieve the
town’s planning needs. We are looking for an individual who is technical;
understands engineering, building, and construction; and enjoys project
administration with a focus on water and sewer design and construction
projects.

Must have an ability to work well with others as part of a team in a
municipal setting. Regulatory and project review experience, familiarity
with municipal budgeting and procurement, prior town meeting
process/participation, grant writing and administration, are all key
elements of this newly created position. Enjoy working as a planner and a
project manager in a smaller town on a wide variety of private development
and DPW projects. Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in
planning, public policy, or related field, with five years of related work
experience desirable; and at least two years in a municipal setting
preferred. Starting salary range of $75,000 annually, depending on
education and experience.
