[Massplanners] MassPlanners Digest, Vol 31, Issue 15

Hello,
In response to Energy Battery Systems inside residential dwellings, please see below from the Charlton Ma fire department. ( cut and pasted from TownofCharlton.net website).

The Town Charlton Fire Department has determined:
527 CMR Fire Code 2021 as amended/adopted in December 2022 requires all plans for roof mounted solar and ESS Systems be submitted to the Fire Department(s) for review. The Fire Inspector has determined that the clear fire path regulations as outlined in NFPA 1, 11.12.3.2 for roof systems with solar panels, will be enforced. In addition, there are new requirements for ESS systems NFPA 855 that will fall under their jurisdiction, including but not limited to decommissioning plans. The Fire Department has determined, based on the current regulations, that no ESS Systems will be allowed in basements.
All plans need to reflect compliance with 527 CMR.

This could be a good start.
Laurie

The owner was planning to sell the parcel of land, with the approved plan, to have someone else own and build the gas station and convenience store. However, he has not found a person/company that wishes to build a gas station on that property. He is now asking the Planning Board if he can just build the convenience store as part of the approved plan but NOT build the gas station portion of the plan. Note that the convenience store would be built as approved by the plans submitted. The Planning Board did not request a performance bond on the plan when approved.
