I am also curious about the message sent Saturday, July 8th --- I have worked in planning in two other States. In those States the Planning and Zoning boards are one entity.  Is it legal to have Planning and Zoning be the same board in Massachusetts?  I read the State law about the two boards and the answer to that question was unclear.

Our Town has quite a few members of Boards who also serve on other Boards, without conflicts of interest or problems.  But in one particular situation, there is concern.  We are wondering if our Selectboard c"an appoint any current Planning Board member to our Zoning Board of Appeals.  Our ZBA would potentially be hearing appeals of Planning Board rulings.  Any thoughts or regulations on this?  Bill Cole, Planning Board, Hardwick MA
