Ken
In response to numerous clear cuts for new subdivisions and even just
raze and rebuilds of single family homes, Town of Lynnfield adopted a Tree
Preservation Bylaw in 2021 that is triggered for all new construction. It
requires that all trees in the zoning setbacks ( essentially outside of the
building envelope) be either retained or mitigated through re planting or a
monetary donation to the Town's tree fund. You can find the bylaw and
regulations on our website
https://www.town.lynnfield.ma.us/planning-board/pages/tree-preservation-bylaw

We are still working out the kinks of implementation and enforcement-- it
has been ugly at times. The cooperation of the Building Inspector is
critical as the Certificate of Occupancy is the leverage for compliance.
