Dear Massachusetts Planners,

The APA-MA Housing and Community Development Committee invites you to our
next Lunchtime Conversations meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 12:00 noon.
Margaret Hurley, Director of the Attorney General's Municipal Law Unit,
will be speaking about "Fair Housing, ADA, and Zoning in Massachusetts:
What's the Connection?" As most of you know, Margaret's office reviews all
bylaws adopted at town meetings every year, and city officials often seek
her advice on zoning matters as well.

We are delighted and so fortunate that Margaret has agreed to join us. She
will share some examples of recent Fair Housing- and ADA-related zoning
decisions issued by her office, familiarize planners with the decision
look-up system and how to use it, and explain the relationship between the
AG's Municipal Law Unit and Civil Rights Division. The Civil Rights
Division enforces federal and state civil rights laws in Massachusetts.

It's a good time to think about the impact of your city or town's zoning
policies on civil rights. Many of you may be working on zoning amendments
for next year's town meeting or future action by the city council, or
zoning to comply with the new MBTA Communities Requirements. We hope this
month's Lunchtime Conversation will be helpful to all of you.

Registration is required. After registering, you will receive a
confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
