Job Description
The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) seeks a Senior Transportation Planner who will work on projects and policies to encourage more of the region's trips to be made by public transit, bicycling, walking, and electric vehicles. The Senior Planner will report to the Director of the Transportation Department, and will work on a variety of topics, such as supporting improvements to the MBTA bus system, helping municipalities to reconfigure street space, conducting research and planning studies to manage parking supply, encouraging developers to adopt robust transportation demand management strategies, evaluating capital projects to be programmed on the Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO) Transportation Improvement Program, and other activities.
The individual will represent the agency in public forums, manage multiple projects, facilitate working groups, conduct research, author reports and technical memoranda, apply for grants and other funding, and maintain and advance relationships with numerous stakeholders.
